Last weekend was election weekend in Bahrain. This was the third election ever to be held in Bahrain's recent history. The first election held in Bahrain post-1975 was in 2002 and that was when women first gained the right to vote and stand for election. Those elections came about as a result of democratic reforms introduced by the current King, King Hamad. It's nice to know that there is an inclination for the rulers and people of Bahrain towards embracing democratic values.
